re:collection
The re:collection by Salomon Elsler is a series of furniture made using pest-infested wood to draw attention to the mass burning of such a resource and its associated CO2 emissions. In bringing design and nature together in a sympathetic collaboration, Elsler hopes to present a future where we can adapt to climate-related processes instead of working against nature and its imperfect material properties. In celebrating the natural characteristics of the wood, the collection postulates a more holistic approach to sustainable resource management through the production of unique and industrially producible pieces of furniture.
