Interwoven Cultures

Bringing together the expertise of material researcher Mari Koppanen and textile weaver Estelle Bourdet, Interwoven Cultures combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative materiality. Using bacterial cellulose and linen to create a handwoven bio-textile, Interwoven Cultures explores the boundaries of contemporary craft through new material applications while hoping to broaden perspectives on craftsmanship within the design scene. Through combined experience, knowledge, and research, the duo present a future-focused approach that builds on the skillsets of past heritage.
