From Killjoys to Joys’ Sparks by Fatima Wegmann Guinassi & Karen Pisoni

A Design & Sound installation.

How can ‘joy’ – the theme of the House of Switzerland - manifest itself in the framework of artistic practices, but also in the current socio-political context?
Istituto Svizzero invites the artist, producer, scholar and DJ Fatima Wegmann Guinassi and the designer Karen Pisoni to explore various aspects of ‘joy’. The artist and the designer share the view that 'joy' is always an active choice that we opt for and that this decision for joy is always also inherent in a resistant political gesture. Karen Pisoni focuses on the various sensitive levels of joy, which can also manifest itself as a real physical sensation in the haptics of materials or in the feeling of light. Fatima Wegmann Guinassi fills the space with an audio piece in which she continues her research into the potential of science fiction storytelling: How can we fabulate about a joyful and lustful future by drawing on fictional speculation in a bleak present?

Living Design

“Living Design” is the name of the collective exhibition presented this year by Switzerland Global Enterprise.

In a distinct but complimentary way, two companies propose solutions and concepts to improve living and workspaces without limiting the aesthetic pleasure.

MAXAKUSTIK is a young company from Flurlingen that has already won admirers from all over the world thanks to its cutting-edge acoustic solutions, in which the aesthetic detail is born of meticulous research that naturally enhances the beauty of the spaces.

SCHINDLER a well-known and established multinational company which develops elevators, escalators and moving walks, moving more than 2 billion people every day. Since 1874, Schindler has been pioneering new technologies for future mobility to make cities more livable.

Thanks to this approach, which perfectly blends tradition and innovation, the project can be considered a true example of Swissness.
